Everything you have is there because you saw it, and were ready to reach out and take it. And had a place to put it. When you succeed it is only because you were ready to take advantage of an opportunity when it presented itself. And if you missed it there is only one reason: you weren’t ready – you either didn’t see it nor had a place or time for it at the time.
Many individuals run around chasing opportunities, for months and sometimes years, and are unsuccessful simply because they aren’t ready to contain whatever it is they want. Once in a while, by luck people do get exactly what they wish for – and because they aren’t ready for it, it disappears despite any effort to keep it. Because everything has a few strings attached, it’s important to have space for it.
Anything from money, career or relationships, the fundamental fact is that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. And the best way to get exactly what you want is as simple as getting ready for it. If the intent is to maintain whatever it is you get, preparation is key.
Every once in a while there is a story about a lottery winner, who then proceeded to spend all of the windfall money and ended up even worse than before! This, of course is no coincidence – since the world actually works backwards. With enough effort it is possible to get on top the hill but as they saying goes – “what comes up must come down.” To keep in line with the lottery example, one needs to buy a ticket in order to win. And in order to enjoy the jackpot, winning on its own is practically useless. One needs to design and build an environment where this wealth remains.
A similar reasoning can be applied to other areas of life. Relationships are only enjoyable and maintainable when all the other supporting pieces are in place, and then you’re ready. Of course the catch is that waiting forever for the perfect partner, moment, place, etc. is useless. Rightly so – waiting, forever or not, is largely useless in many cases. So instead, get those supporting pieces and the puzzle magically falls together all on its own.
After all, enjoyment is only possible when all of the pieces are supporting each other. If any one is a little off, either in a traditionally “good” or “bad” direction, tension is inevitable. The easiest way to eliminate or prevent such tension is to get all of the small pieces taken care of first, and the big one will get there all on its own – but only when you’re ready for it, and not a moment sooner.
You could, of course, get the carriage before the horse – but that wouldn’t be nearly as backwards.
